Electric or Acoustic Blues Guitar Lessons?

It’s a question sometimes asked to me by friends should I learn the blues on electric or acoustic guitar. Most blues guitar lessons I’ve watched the teacher is using an electric guitar, how ever that isn’t to say that you couldn’t learn the techniques and skills on an acoustic guitar. In fact learning them on an acoustic guitar will make it even easier to play on an electric since the strings are most often heavier on an acoustic. Where you will begin to have troubles on the acoustic guitar is when you’re learning to play lead licks higher up on the neck past the 10th fret. Unless you have a cut out guitar you’ll want to switch over to an electric, but for rhythm, 12 bar blues and chords you can learn and play blues on an acoustic guitar til your hearts content.
