Why Music Education is important in elementary school

Music Education is one of the most important subjects that is taught in the elementary school. Some would disagree with me, I know, and would group music along with Drama, Dance and Visual arts into the one category of “arts”. I feel that music belongs in its own category – with its own sense of importance. Music is more than just another arts topic – it helps children order their brain. Studies have shown time and time again that students who do music do better in other areas as well. This is because of two things – the particular way that you have to think to play music, using several areas of the brain at once, plus the discipline required to practice an instrument every day.
