An advertising manager designs, develops, and manages advertising tests made to measure the return on advertisements; analyzes the profitability of different versions of ads; makes ad layout recommendations; handles the creative team, overseeing performance while providing objective directions/recommendations; and works in collaboration with the marketing, purchasing, operations, and sales divisions as required. An advertising manager may be completely responsible for ad campaigns assigned to his or her team. Some organizations may also ask the advertising manager to select, recruit, and train team members in the absence of an HR team. An advertising manager role may also be identified by titles such as team leader (advertising), assistant manager (advertising), Internet advertising manager, ads manager, online ads manager, and account manager, among others. Advertising agencies, marketing companies, online advertising firms, and some MNCs are among the employers that generally seek candidates for these posts. A bachelor’s degree in advertising is essential for these roles. An advertising manager should also be able to demonstrate expertise in advertising operations and a strong understanding of brand management and brand value.
