Special Dressings for Severe Burns and Lacerations

Little cuts and burns can be treated with over the counter bandaids and burn ointments, but when there are second and third degree burns and deep lacerations, a special wound dressing is required to aid in healing and to keep out bacteria.  This special dressing is aquacel.  It used to be impossible to find over the counter, but now it is available for deep wounds to keep out contamination while it heals.  It has a gel coating in it that keeps the wound moist so it does not dry out and scab so it can heal with healthier skin cells.  The silver that is in it helps to absorb blood and fluid from the wound keeping it sterile, clean and moist.
