High Intensity Strength Training
February 12, 2010 9:15 am SportsAn athletic training regimen needs to consist of strength training routines that are of high intensity. Use supersets, bodyweight exercises, plyometrics, and interval training in your fitness program to help you achieve these higher levels of intensity. It’s certainly better than sitting around between sets reading a magazine.
Training less often for intense periods maximizes your performance ability while boosting your metabolism. During training, your muscle fibers take on a tremendous amount of stress. This stress causes tears in your muscle fibers. Your body reacts to this by regenerating new muscle while you rest. Thus, you need adequate rest between training sessions in order to generate new, healthy muscle tissue.
